The initial concept of Kingdom Hope took place inside the mind of an eighteen-year-old Steve Zakuani whilst walking and reflecting on his own life.
Steve came to the realization that there were three key components that had begun to ensure he was moving towards a path of success which were education, sports and leadership and believed that these three disciplines had the ability to change the lives of others.
Steve was as good as his word and established Kingdom Hope in 2010, whilst still playing professional soccer, with the simple goal to ‘create a generation of leaders that actively serve humanity in order to bring positive change to the world’.
Initially Kingdom Hope began by putting on soccer clinics in the Greater Seattle area. These soccer clinics were designed to give back to the soccer community as the soccer community in Washington had given so much to Steve.
As Kingdom Hope continued to grow we then moved into the leadership space, harnessing Steve’s ability as a prolific speaker, we held our first Rising Leaders in 2012. The purpose of our Rising Leaders conference is simply to ‘Inspire Greatness’ in aspiring and established leaders and this is achieved by teaching principles and sharing knowledge on what it takes to become a great leader that serves others.
The journey of Kingdom Hope continued when in 2015 we launched our Cecile Zakuani Scholarship program and the Soccer on Us. The programs are designed to create leaders that serve their communities which is in line with the purpose of Kingdom Hope.
2015 also saw the successful launch of the Zak and Friends Charity game which brought out former Sounder players, Seattle Reign and figures in the community for a rip roaring charity match which raised over $12k for Kingdom Hope!
To date Kingdom Hope has positively inspired hundreds of leaders though our Rising Leaders conference. We have brought the soccer community together with the Zak and Friends Charity game and have provided scholarships for two young students in Rwanda, Africa.
We have much more work to do and have exciting plans for the future and we hope we can count on your support to help create a generation of leaders that actively serve humanity in order to bring positive change.
